Question about ICING after runs...

I keep reading that you should ice ASAP after runs. Does this mean do not stretch first or ice then stretch? I've always stretched then iced but I keep reading and not finding anything about stretching first just ICE IMMEDIATELY.

Help!

  2. Hi there new follower...

IMHO you should always stretch first. I'm not really a big fan of icing...cold contracts the muscles and I'm not as close to being as flexible as I'd like to be so I avoid things that will contract my muscles (save for injury when there is actual swelling).

    See you around.

  3. I've never heard of icing after a run unless you're injured. There are different thoughts about stretching, but I would say post workout is a good thing. I can't imagine that icing would be bad for you though. I say if you like it then do it.
